Funny Joke about Baptists.

I was walking across a bridge one day and I saw a man standing on the edge, about to jump off. So I ran over and said, “Stop! Don’t do it!”

“Why shouldn’t I?” he said.

I said, “Well, there’s so much to live for.”

“Like what?” he said.

I said, “Well, are you religious or atheist?”

He said, “Religious.”

I said, “Me too! Are you Christian, Buddhist or Muslim?”

“Christian”

“Me too!” I said “Are you Catholic or Protestant?”

“Protestant”

I said, “Me too! Are you Episcopalian or Baptist?”

He said, “Baptist”

“Wow, me too! Are you Baptist Church of God or Baptist Church of the Lord?”

He said, “Baptist Church of God”

I said, “Me too! Are you original Baptist Church of God, or Reformed Baptist Church of God?”

“Reformed Baptist Church of God!”

I said, “Me too! Are you Reformed Baptist Church of God, Reformation of 1889, or Reformed Baptist Church of God, reformation of 1915?”

He said, “Reformed Baptist Church of God, Reformation of 1915.”

I said, “Die heretic scum!” and pushed him off.

Blah...

And so it came to be
this isolation that I am
I can only look to me
to find the way it all began -
this confusion, constant
hunger for something more than this
I strive to find this being
that I envision, yet seem to miss.
Could it be that I am empty-
or maybe a little lost?
Could it be that I am lonely,
or seek happiness at any cost?
This never-ending Something
that I am living deep inside,
depicts the illusion of myself
and all I have to hide.

Uh oh...blasphamy?? No...it's inequality..

My friend has to write a paper about proposition 8 and while she was researching, she was disgusted about all of the religious based discrimination she found. So, me being the outspoken person that I am, began to rant. So here it is:

The fact of the matter is that high ranking religious "officials" believe themselves to be "the mouth of god" and they take advantage of it. Instead of having their followers follow the bible, these "officials" push their own viewpoints down their throats. The bible teaches you to love your neighbor and they will return that love.

Just look at this quote from the bible for example: “If anyone says, 'I love God,' yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen (1 John 4:20).”

So, basically, if you discriminate or show hatred towards someone else, your "Brother in Christ," you cannot love God. Now, this just seems contradictory to some church's beliefs. They believe that God hates "fags".

http://www.godhatesfags.com/

It's just sickening to see this because aren't we supposed to have a loving and caring God?? Aren't we supposed to have a forgiving God??

According to religion, we only sometimes have a loving, caring, and forgiving God. According to religion, it is apparently okay to discriminate against someone or hate something as long as a high ranking "official" believes that it is "God's will."

I don't know about you, or whoever else might be reading this, but I don't want some random guy who believes he is the "mouth of god" to tell me who I should or shouldn't like. This is why God gave us the gift of free range thought.

Also, something that bugs me, people say that since the bible says something it means that it's true in God's eyes. The thing is my friends, God didn't write the bible. Uh oh, surprising?? And for those of you who firmly believe that the people who wrote the bible were "mouths of God" then that's fine, but you have to understand that the bible that we are reading now is not the bible that was written thousands of years ago. There are books from the bible that were banned by the church, there were pages lost through the years and years of wear-n-tear, and there were words and phrases lost in translation. For all we know John or Peter were lovers but the bible took that part out because the Pope or Bishop or Priest, whoever put the final book together, didn't like homosexuals.

Don't discriminate.
Don't hate.
And most definitely don't pull the religious card when talking about Gay marriage.

And just really quickly, while I'm on this rant about gay marriage, since when does discrimination have a place in our constitution? How will the world view us if we discriminate in our constitution? We are supposed the be the land of the free, not in the land of the "free only if you aren't homosexual."

Just love people for who they are because if you were in their shoes, you would want your freedoms right?

Love cannot be restrained. There is no limit to this undying emotion. I just hope people realize this...
